Aging and Skin Care

I for one like to make my own skin care products and I have many many recipes and books that I use to make them. I love Essential oils for skin care but use carefully until you know if you are allergic or not to certain oils.
Here are twenty three essential oils that can be used for wrinkles. You can use any of these oils on their own or combine them as needed. Because everyone's skin regenerates at a different rate you should
allow at least thirty days to see outward results.
The oils are

Below are synergistic blends designed to combat wrinkles among other
conditions etc. Use them every night on the face and if you wish, on the
neck and chest, as far as the collar bone.

A note regarding Geranium Oil. According to the author geranium oil will
treat various conditions that can manifest themselves on the skin as a result
of difficult emotional experiences--red blotches on the chest, spots on the
back, or skin that looks saggy or has flaky patches. In addition, it will
reverse the apathy and body droop that often accompany the troubled mind.
Use 6 drops of geranium oil in the bath; put 30 drops into 2 tbls. of light
nut oil such as those used for dilution above for face oil and body rub.
She says you can see an improvement after one session. Before bathing, stand
naked in front of the m irror and observe the posture and look of your body.
Now have a bath to which you have added 6 drops of geranium oil and lie
there inhaling deeply for at least five minutes. When you get out rub the geranium
body oil over your whole body and stretch in all directions for a few
minutes. Now have a look in the mirror again. You'll see a marked
improvement already , so imagine the difference if you used this treatment
every day.

As we age everything changes, our skin gets drier, some suffer from acne too
you must learn your skin type, and what changes you are going through to know what products to use.
Nurturing Our Skin
Pampering our skin is something we should learn to do for our health and well being. Many of the commercially made soaps, lotions, and bath products are actually harsh on our skin, despite what they claim. However, there are some simple things you can do to nurture your skin without buying expensive spa products.
Do not over wash your face or body. A gentle rinse in the morning is often all you need for your face and neck area. Avoid scrubbing with the abrasive cleaners that are available or harsh soaps. I have found that a good quality handmade soap works well. When washing use warm water and finally, pat your face dry gently with a soft towel. The key to pampering your skin is to be as gentle as possible.

QUICK home Facial

Grind 2 cups of dry red beans in a food processor or grinder. Mix 1/2 cup of the powder with a little water to form a paste. Spread on your face, avoiding your eye area, and leave on for about 5 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Save the remainder of the powder in a covered container. After this cleaning mask, you can follow with a hydration mask as follows:
Mix together:
1 tsp. honey
1 egg yolk
1/2 tsp. olive oil
1/2 tsp. half-and-half or heavy cream
Apply to your face, including your eye area, and leave on for 15-20 minutes and rinse with warm water.
I have found that the best moisturizers are fragrance and color free. The simpler, the better. It's important that you do not towel dry your face or body completely before adding a moisturizer. They do not ADD moisture, but instead they help retain the moisture from your bath or shower. If you do want to add fragrance, try adding a few drops of essential oil such as calendula, which has skin soothing properties.

Care for Your LIPS

Our Lips also go through changes with aging and you will notice tiny lines much more noticeable than before as time goes on. Extra care needs to be given to lips
Cracked Lips
Are your lips feeling like sandpaper during the cold weather? Your lips don't have the ability to fight off sun damage, dry air, and wind like the rest of you skin. They need protection.

Apply lip balm or lipstick before going out in the cold weather, your lips need that barrier. Increase you intake of liquids and don't lick your lips, it only hinders healing.

If the corners of your mouth are getting red, sore or splitting , try applying yogurt to that area. This is a sign of an overgrowth of yeast

Lip oil
Great for dry lips
4 mls calendula oil
4 mls jojoba oil
4 mls vitamin e oil
2 drops sandalwood oil
2 drops geranium oil
Mix together and pour into a roll on bottle for easy application.

Lip Gloss
1 teaspoon Glycerin
1 teaspoon Distilled Water
2 drops Orange Essential Oil
Mix together and pour into a roll on bottle for easy application.

Honey Pot Lip Balm
2 tsp. olive oil
1/2 tsp. beeswax
1/2 tsp. cocoa butter
1/2 tsp. honey
3 drops essential oil of orange
1 vitamin E capsule

Measure oil, beeswax and cocoa butter into a glass or enamel pan. Melt over
low heat. A hotplate works well and reduces the risk of overheating the oils.
I use a small glass jar to store my lip balm in so I just mix all the
ingredients right in that jar then place it in a pan of water to melt the

Stir the mixture often until the wax is melted. Remove from heat and stir in
the honey and essential oil. Pinch open the vitamin E capsule and squeeze the
contents into the mixture. Stir well. Pour the mixture into containers. Label
after it has solidified. If you want your honey to be dispersed throughout
the lip balm you will need to stir it as it is solidifying.

Choose any essential oil that appeals to you. Tea Tree oil is good for cold
sores and chapped lips.

Make your lip balm using an herbal oil in place of the olive oil. Melissa
(lemon balm) and Calendula are two of many herbs that can add healing and
soothing properties. Alkanet will make red lip balm. Start with one
tablespoon to 1/2 cup oil. After heat extraction, check the color. If it is
not dark enough for you add more Alkanet and go through the heat extraction
process again. Your lip balm will turn out several shades lighter than the
color of your oil.

You may also notice that RED LIP Color is not as becoming on you as it once was, if you like RED you can still wear it, just try different shades of RED, and if you follow a good skin care REGIME you can pull off RED once you learn your true skin color and then wear a compatible shade of RED
